Sankalp Shakti: The hidden side of progress and growth

    Evolution inside out

It is time to dispel the ignorance in our minds of being living beings with forms that are just surviving and adapting to the environment. It is time to realise the relevance of the innate abilities bestowed upon us since time immemorial to take upon the resolve for reaching higher abilities and states of being. The limiting view and beliefs held since centuries of ‘survival of the fittest’ renders us as reactive or weak beings in terms of our anatomy and our possibilities. By giving relevance only to the external factors moulding us or our forms, through the world-view that science has offered us so far, the significance of our innate abilities and potencies to evolve through resolve or beneficial intent has been downplayed. While the resolve to become stronger or wiser and the intent to create a civilised society has fructified, still believing that evolution is only an external factor infuencing us or adapting us to survive, disregards the role of conscious effort in shaping our form and our reality.

Our resolve, the intent behind it and the conscious energies that we put in, are the key driving factors for evolution as much as the role played by the external environment. Understanding and realising the importance and impact that our conscious energies, led by our intent and resolve, have in shaping our lives and society is of paramount importance. The weightage given to the external realities and circumstances both man-made and natural in our lives, renders us as rective beings who are at the mercy of the environment, and now in todays age, at the mercy of the many flawed or ineffective structures and systems that we have subject ourselves to.

It is time to look within and remember our forgotten powers and awaken the light within, that can shine and show us our true form as beings capable of fulfilling our potential of seeking and reaching higher possibilities and states of existence. And through our resolve jump over the ocean of ignorance that lends us as weak, immoral, reactive and helpless beings incapable of moulding ourselves to wonderful forms of existence filled with peace, love, wellbeing and divine grace for all.

The Illusion of the Lokas (Realms)

The description of Lokas or Realms in various scriptures and texts has caught the fascination and imagination of Man over the ages. Be it the descriptions of the abodes of spiritual beings or the description of our world or the worlds which are described to follow our life post this world has found narration in our lives, in our stories and our works of fiction. Right from being rare, most sought after or aspired to the most feared or dreaded, the various Lokas that are known to us or we have heard of since our childhood or in various videos and reads have been an enigma for all. So what are these Lokas and what do we make of it. Are these imaginary narrations created by Man and should the same be considered as illusory.

To decipher the same, one first needs to understand the nature of the manifestation, the mind and the maya (illusion). The manifestation is considered as material (made of matter and having form). Depending on how near, how far, how large, how small, how dark, how bright and so on, the human eye is able to perceive the matter or its form basis which we are able to identify and associate or make sense of the material manifestation. The material objects and the material forms which are made up of matter interact and the forms through its senses can perceive other forms and the material objects. The interaction occurs between the forms and the material objects which are as manifested or derived from the manifested matter, through which forms find value for its sustenance.

The Mind is responsible for the perception and interpretation in the manifested forms and objects. Beyond the sustenance of the form, the mind also breeds the desires which drives the form to derive and alter the objects and other forms to fulfill the desires. While the form believes in the mind and is driven by it, the mind is full of limitations and illusions. But being associated with the form and its constant companion, the form never accepts this reality and continues with its ways unless it feels the need to seek and inquire beyond what the mind and form can do or know.

The interplays of the manifested forms, the manifested objects in the universe and the mind along with the Maya (illusion) that this is “I” or me, the “Ahm” or ego and its various derivatives or emotions are born. When the Manifestation, the Mind and the Maya thus  come together, the resulting realities are the Lokas.

So depending on the form, its perception capabilities or senses, the interpretation by the mind and the illusions or maya, the different Lokas are in existence. The human form, our five senses, our world and the objects therein, our brain and its perception of the world, the resulting ego and the association with “I” or “We” arising from the Maya or the illusions and the ensuing interpretations of ourselves, our lives and its interplay with other forms and objects of the world, is what forms our Loka which is also referenced as “Martyaloka” or “Prithviloka”. We derive various things from the material manifestation in our Loka which are available to us or the energies that we can harness and we further build our Loka and our lives around it. By further making meaning out of the same through science and harnessing it as technology, we are able to further enhance what is available in our Loka and become beneficiaries of it. The material manifestation, the mind and the maya are dynamic in nature and can alter the realities of our Loka. If our mind is imbalanced or disturbed then it can alter our interpretation of the reality or further feed the illusions of the “I” and the resulting delusions of the “Ahm”. If the manifestation or the objects or energies therein are used well or abused, then it can alter our reality for the better or worse, and so on. Thus it is important that the sustenance of the material world, the manifested form or body, the balance of the mind and the understanding of its nature and nature of the maya or illusions are all taken into consideration in the Loka.

The coming together of the manifestation, the mind and the maya and its dissolution into the formless or unmanifest state that is without the limitations or the shortcomings of the materialised forms, has been taking place since time immemorial in the infinite space. The three coming together resulting in various Lokas can coexist in same points or at different points in space and time, each becoming manifest and unmanifest for varying durations. Similarly, the alterations in the three can change a Loka and its reality altogether. Making it important for all to realise the nature of the three and work towards uplifting the standards of the Loka thereby bringing more convenience, balance, peace and tranquility in the Loka. The popular beliefs about the pleasures, comforts, powers, lifespans, etc. that are associated with other Lokas drive people and so are individual efforts directed in attaining these in our Loka. Through various paths and means these are said to be accessible or possible. Instead of just expecting through ones efforts or penance the alteration of the three would enable one to reach or exist in another Loka or change ones reality in current Loka by tinkering with our form / body, the mind and the world; it is essential to first realise the Self and gain the wisdom necessary to understand the Self. By realising the Self and trying to comprehend the Supreme, one is able to gain the wisdom required to rise above the manifestation, mind and maya. Those who are able to do so or find themselves in such a state of being, are able to see beyond the pleasures and pains of not just the current Loka but the potential ones where one could desire to be. Or instead choose to establish oneself in the Self or the Supreme where Lokas become leelas or pasttimes and forms are manifested to guide or show the way for all suffering or seeking to rise above the Lokas.

    Flow of the Creation

The Creation is in a constant state of flow and so is one, till one reaches the perfect state of equilibrium or stillness. The air we breathe that we need for life is in a constant state of flow. Water that forms the oceans, the rivers and forms the essense of life as it flows in our blood through the veins is in a constant state of flow. The flow of the Ganges from its source in the crown of Shiva to the earth in a constant state of flow symbolises the same. The energies and the light which is needed for life or form to sustain is in a state of flow as waves or particles. As the current flows, we are able to power all our electronic and electrical devices.

Understanding, inquiring and seeking the flow of the creation, realising the nature of reality and illusions, emptying oneself to sync with and let the energies of creation flow is the essense of life. Through its flow of wisdom and blessings, the Universe nourishes all that is manifest as one passes through the the cosmic flows and experiences of life.

Often in form one is bewildered and forgets oneself and ones source, thus going out of sync or against the flow of creation. One tries to force or obstruct the flows in life. Just like swimming in the waves against the current or trying to obstruct it, one gets washed away in the flow. Obstructing the flow of current gives us a shock. Obstructing the flow of love gives us suffering, obstructing the flow of life gives us pain. One cannot hold it, possess it, control it or keep it with oneself, one is not meant to. These are but indications of being out of sync with the flow of the Creation and its energies. The purpose of human life is to realise and tune in to these flows as it takes one to the states of equilibrium, stillness and bliss. Just as the Ganges that originated from Shiva, flows through nourishing the life along its path before it reaches into the ocean, one who realises and tunes in to the flows of the Creation ends up in the ocean of the cosmic ocean of divinity and peace.

    Bestest: The journey continues #14

Sid is all pepped up and excited to make the most of what he had learnt so far. Out of his impatience and urge to get going, Sid requests Tej to hand him over the book and thanks him for sharing his journey with him. Tej reciprocates but mentions that there is something more that he would like to share that the wise old man mentioned in the next pages which were very important. Sid holds back and urges Tej to let him know what it was that the wise old man felt was so important.

Tej then recalls the words of the wise old man ..

THE TRICKS OF THE TRADE CAN TAKE YOU TO A HEIGHT
BUT TO USE THEM WELL YOU HAVE TO BE WISE
THE MIND AND MATTER WILL PLAY ALL GAMES AS YOU RISE
FROM DICHOTOMY OF CREATION ARE BORN BOTH VIRTUE AND VICE
WHAT MOST WON’T EVEN DARE DREAM OR GET, YOU SHALL REACH IT WITH YOUR MIGHT
BUT IF YOU LOSE SIGHT OF GOOD, BAD, GREAT OR NICE, THEN THERE WILL BE DARKNESS NO LIGHT
THE POWER TO EXERCISE INDESCRETION AS AND WHEN YOU PLEASE, CALLS FOR TROUBLE DAY AND NIGHT
YOUR MOTIVE WILL DECIDE IF YOU GET IT WRONG OR RIGHT
SO ALWAYS PRACTICE BALANCE AND MODERATION AS MUCH AS YOU PRACTICE TO WIN THE FIGHT
NOT GETTING YOUR WAY CAN ALSO BE A BLESSING IN DIGUISE
FOR THERE IS NO GREATER VICTORY THAN BEING ABLE TO MEND YOUR WAYS AND FIX BROKEN TIES

Tej shares with Sid that as he began to taste success using what he had learnt, he began to change, till things started to fall apart. The more he tried, his possibilities began to rise but so did his passion and ego. And like the wise old man had said, Tej got his way but the road ahead looked dark and he felt things were not right. He recalled how the words of the wise man echoed in his mind and how with utmost challenges he had managed to get himself back from the mode of passion to light. He narrated how he had let go of what he was or could be and had become kinder, wiser, nicer. He spoke of how he then became capable of sparing a thought for others beyond just thinking of using and abusing what he could, and instead ended up being the Tej that stood before Sid today. The Tej whom everyone who knew and did not know both acknowledged and appreciated.

Sid was glad that Tej warned him about what he was going to get into if he didn’t use his new found learnings with care. He shook hands with Tej, expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the decisions he took to mend his ways and for guiding others right. Sid thereon decided to contain the possibilities and limits that he could exceed and instead like the wise old man said, exercise balance and moderation in his life.
